![]() ![]() However, I did stumble across something fairly interesting concerning the Carian Knight's Sword. I've never found anything in the game files to suggest that was planned, outside of the Lazuli sorcerers actually doing that with their swords, which is unfair. I think some people believe that the Carian Knight Sword and Lazuli Glintstone Sword in Elden Ring might have originally been intended to be weapon catalysts (be able to cast spells in addition to being weapons). considering the state of the ending back when the demo was datamined, and how it was overall presented in the final game, i would argue it's safe to say it was at least not the most polished part of the game and that's without talking about the crazy ending. the dialogue gets worse, the pacing, the balancing. Thats the safe one, but i would argue all of the Shinra HQ, starting from when you rescue Aerith, was done in a much more rushly manner than the rest of the game. but i think they either realised they didnt have time, or that just putting a new character in the last 3 hours of your game wasnt the best idea The endless fights would surely make much more sense if it was to make us accostumed to a new party member - and much less boring too. but it's there where you are introduced to Red XIII and what he can do, except he's only a guest character. an endless gauntlet of enemies with clumsy button contraptions, it is one of the worst parts of the game in a real weird way. Pretty much Red XIII and The Drum in FFVIIR. They could build more content out of already made assets with the Dark Side and Darker Side of the moon stages to reward the hardcore players, while devoting development resources that would be put towards Delfino Plaza elsewhere. They likely realized that they didn’t need a second throwback location, and if it was a postgame unlock, the majority of players would’ve stopped playing before getting to it. I think they removed it because they wanted all the major landmarks on the map to be places you could go in the game, and I think Delfino Plaza was going to be in the game. There’s really no reason for them to remove it from the map. If I remember correctly, if you zoomed into the globe in Mario’s ship in that game, you can still see the outline of where Delfino Plaza was. When the actual game launched, that some map no longer had Isle Delfino. There was a world map that appeared in Japanese marketing where you could see Isle Delfino above the Mushroom Kingdom on the map. I think at some stage of development, Delfino Plaza was going to be in Mario Odyssey. ![]() I am assuming they saw the whole Pikachu friendship stuff in Yellow and decided they had to include that feature in Gold/Silver somehow, despite the games being into deep into development by then. Instead, the method to get them requires increasing Eevee's friendship value to maximum and then levelling it up, during the day (for Espeon) or night (for Umbreon.) I suspect the whole friendship mechanic was a late addition, which would explain why it affects virtually nothing other than triggering a few evolutions and determining the strength of the moves Return and Frustration. Espeon is called the Sun Pokemon in the Pokedex, and Umbreon is called the Moonlight Pokemon, yet neither can be obtained with the corresponding themed stones, despite that being the method to obtain the other Eevee evolutions. I think that in Pokemon Gold and Silver, Eevee was originally supposed to evolve into Espeon and Umbreon with the Sun and Moon Stones, respectively. I will start this thread with an example. You cannot prove that these changes of plan happened, but you think they did, based on your observations of the game's content. ![]()
